Sure, it’s a skewers restauant, not a ramenya, and sure it’s at an airport…and LAX at that…but it’s a Morimoto (of Iron Chef fame) restaurant, so it’s worth a try?
There’s only one ramen on the menu: the Ramen Pork Noodle bowl (non-spicy). I’m not entirely sure why it’s necessary to call out that it’s non-spicy, but it *is* available in a spicy version, which is what I ordered.
The soup was not too shabby, but it reminds me of instant ramen soup. The “spicy” in the spicy pork ramen turns out to be a dollop of sriracha sauce. The noodles were tasteless. So far…not too great, but it’s about what you’d expect from an airport restaurant that serves restaurant.
The chashu, on the other hand, is tasty. It had a nice fat-to-lean balance and good flavor. Overall, this was a very humdrum ramen, but might be worth getting if you’re stuck at LAX and really craving ramen.
Unfortunately the skewer was likewise very average.
